METRO-ATLANTA, 2008
The fortieth Williams Family Reunion – the Ruby! – was hosted by the Metro-Atlanta Branch on Hilton Head Island, SC at the Hilton Garden Inn, Mrs. Patience Champion Mitchell, President. The business meeting was held at the Golden Corral Restaurant, after which the family enjoyed the all-you-can-eat buffet. That evening, Spades and Bid Whist Tournaments were held and a game room was set up for the children. We began Saturday with a Pop Praise service on the beach, led by Rev. Brian K. Blackwell, followed by the Golf Tournament, led by Mr. Alvin Williams. After the tournament, family members gathered at Jarvis Park for a cookout and family trivia, led by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald and Darlene Williams. Saturday evening, we held our 40th Reunion Extravaganza at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront Hotel where our National Officers and First Lady Dora Williams were presented plaques for their dedication to WFC. Our tournament winners were announced, our family members showcased their talent, and Lavon Stephens & Co. provided wonderful entertainment to end the Extravaganza. Sunday morning, the family enjoyed an intimate worship service at the host hotel where the Revs. Robert and Ann Shaw delivered an awesome joint sermon that had us on our feet!
